Worth knowing

  • Hurricane season peaks in September in Atlantic Canada — keep a flex day per leg, avoid non-refundable boats.
  • Flight days: Edelweiss flies Thursdays and Sundays — both our legs (17 September out, 15 October home) are Thursdays, so the dates line up.
  • Car seat: rear-facing is the law and rental-agency seats are unreliable. We bring our own.
  • Toronto → Montréal: the train (about 5 hours) beats driving with a baby.

The Maritimes peak in the second week of October — after we leave, so expect green with early edges. Québec turns first: the Laurentians in the first week of October, Montréal mid-month. We're moving west at roughly the speed of the season, which is the right direction.
